All of our courses are designed to encourage deep mental processing and learner engagement with the class material. This is why Summerwood Primary School is consciously  going to emphasize integrating "The 16 Habits of the Mind" and using "Thinking Maps" with our curriculum in 2023.

We also believe that 21st Century Learning Skills should be integrated with the CAPS Curriculum. We maintain a high level of IT-teaching and learning at Summerwood Primary School. We follow the nationally acclaimed "Knowledge Network" curriculum and write external examinations from Grades 4 - Grade 7. The teachers use Microsoft Teams for teaching and learning, Summerwood has also embarked on using CAMI Web, a flexible and sophisticated  web-based Mathematics system where learners can practise their Mathematics skills anywhere and anytime.

We have three distinct learning phases at Summerwood Primary School: The Foundation Phase, the Intermediate Phase and the Senior Phase.
