WELCOME TO SUMMERWOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL IN 2023
THE PRIMARY PRINCIPLE OF OUR SCHOOL RULES
Summerwood has a comprehensive set of school rules that every parent receives upon his / her child or children's admission to Summerwood Primary School. The school rules are based on the principle of restorative justice.

THE PURPOSE OF OUR SCHOOL RULES
Our school rules are set to:
-
maintain a positive learning environment;
-
Set out acceptable behaviour;
-
Further educational goals;
-
Safeguard our learners and
-
Maintain good discipline and order.
Learners, teachers and parents need to strive to make a qualitative difference and are encouraged to be:
-
Respectful, to listen to others and to display courtesy;
-
Care for and value everyone equally, regardless of race, religious beliefs, cultural differences or abilities;
-
Honest in all actions;
-
Responsible and accept responsibility sincerely and
-
Co-operative and give of their best at all times and above all, to be forgiving.
Classroom rules are essential because:
-
Classroom rules are the foundation for a functional and successful classroom in any setting.
-
Rules vary from procedures as they determine what the classroom looks like, what type of behavior is acceptable and encouraged, and help students work towards a common goal.
-
In other words, they set the tone.
-
Establishing classroom procedures early on saves time during the year, helps students focus on the real work, and reduces stress in the classroom.
