Summerwood Primary School World Reading Aloud Day

World Reading Aloud Day, Wednesday 2 February 2022

Summerwood Primary School celebrated the power of reading aloud on Wednesday,  2 February 2022. The initiative is aimed at encouraging learners to celebrate reading aloud all year long. LitWorld founded World Read Aloud Day in 2010 to celebrate the power of reading aloud to create community and amplify new stories, and to advocate for literacy as a foundational human right. Since then, World Read Aloud Day has evolved into a global movement of millions of readers, writers, and listeners from communities all across the world coming together to honor the joy and power of reading and sharing stories, and continue expanding the definition and scope of global literacy. (See litworld.org) This year the Grade 4 learners read aloud to the Grade 1 learners at Summerwood Primary School.  A convenient location was selected where the Grade 1 learners could peacefully assimilate the stories the Grade 4 learners read to them.

Summerwood Primary School has a splendid library with abundant resources that the learners could select from.
