Art Club
Art Club is an extension of Creative Arts taught during school hours. Art Club is an extremely popular extramural activity at Summerwood Primary School. Various groups from Grade 3 to Grade 7 attend Art Club. It is so popular that only a certain percentage of learners who indicate their wish to attend Art Club, can be accommodated.
The sessions are aimed at developing fine art skills, encouraging creativity, exploring art styles, principles and techniques and manipulating a range of materials to create original 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional artworks.
Coding and Robotics Club
Coding club provides an engaging and educational experience for grade 5-7 learners. Through a diverse range of coding activities, students are introduced to different forms of programming. They delve into the world of Unplugged coding, using games like Rangers and Tanks to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
They also explore the Micro:bit coding, fostering creativity and innovation. The club also offers Lego coding sessions, where students learn to construct and program their own robots improving logical reasoning, teamwork and perseverance abilities, preparing them for the future.
